The Hawaiian Ride for Youth is one of the biggest and most-supported charity events in Australia. Every year it raises a phenomenal amount of funds for Youth Focus – a charity that aims to prevent youth suicide and depression.
Youth Focus asked us to create a video that could be played at the dozens of fundraising events in the lead up to the ride. Every year the participants hold quiz nights, guest speakers, dinners, and many more types of events to raise money for their ride. This video is to be played at each event to educate people on why the ride exists and why it’s so important.
We wanted to reflect the fact that Youth Focus are based in Perth so we shot on the southern bank of the Swan River looking towards the city. It was a simple headshot-style interview to camera to focus the attention on the message rather than fancy images.
We overlayed footage of previous years’ rides and animated some text and logo graphics to go with the video.
The result was a greater awareness of why this event exists. The video will be useful for a long time to come in encouraging people to donate to the Youth Focus cause and the Hawaiian Ride for Youth. So far the response has been amazing and a huge amount of donations have been pledged already which puts a smile on all of our faces! We love helping out great causes.
