Who are they?

We have been producing content for Solas Orthodontics for more than 5 years and we love the process every single time. Not only are they one of the best orthodontic teams in Western Australia but they’re the nicest and most friendly crew to film with! They have recently expanded their practice to include new staff, new cutting edge technology, and new rooms, so it was high time they created a suite of video content to show people – that’s why they called Birdhouse.

Our Task

Solas needed a big collection of content – everything from a looping home page video banner, to short social media edits, to a “fly-through” of their new practice rooms. Our first step was a site visit at their location and from that recce we developed a filming plan and a long list of deliverables – everything they would need to show their update off to the world.

The plan was to complete all filming in a single day and we created a detailed filming schedule to get it done. We began with the interviews of Dr Daniel O’Connor and his team, and then moved into directing real-world scenarios with volunteers and clients.

We also worked side-by-side with a photographer who was capturing our video scenarios in still images. 

The entire filming process only took one day and the editing was completed within a few weeks of filming. All in all we delivered 23 separate pieces of video content (a HUGE amount) for Solas to impress their audience with.

The Result

The edits are light, bright, and welcoming – exactly how the Solas practice feels in real life. We focused a lot on “people” to make the edits more approachable and friendly and we kept the editing style simple.

The social media edits were a little more involved, with split screens and overlay “pops”, and the end product is a huge collection of extremely usable promotional material. The Solas website and social accounts are now filled with high-quality video content that will last them years!
